US: Retroactive Duties Could Be Applied to Chinese Solar Imports

The controversy surrounding the U.S.-China trade debate looks set to continue well into 2012. Having already twice delayed the deadline for its preliminary decision on Chinese solar import duties into the U.S., the Department of Commerce has now introduced a "critical-circumstances" ruling, meaning that retroactive duties could be applied.

On January 30, 2012, the Secretariat for International Trade of the Ministry of Economy and Public Finance of Argentina sent a note to China's Economic and Commercial Counselor's Office in Argentina that, according to the Resolution No. 349, 2011 of Argentina Ministry of Industry, it has decided to terminate the antidumping (AD) investigation on China's men or children suits and jackets and take the measure of FOB floor price at USD 81.5 each.
