Directorate General of Anti Dumping & Allied Duties of Department of Commerce of ministry of Commerce & Industry of government of India vide notification dated May 1st 2008 has announced termination of sunset review of anti dumping duty imposed against imports of certain grades alloy and non alloy steels billets, bars and rounds from Russia and China and recommended that the anti dumping duties need not be extended further.
Commerce Finds Unfair Dumping of Steel Nails From China

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Commerce today announced its affirmative final determination in the antidumping duty (AD) investigation of imports of certain steel nails from China. Commerce also announced its negative final determination in the AD investigation of imports of certain steel nails from the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The investigations covered certain steel nails, having a shaft length of up to 12 inches, and produced from various grades of steel and have a variety of finishes, heads, shanks, points, and sizes.
A SAD story of tax refund to importers

India - A special additional duty (SAD) of Customs of 4% has been levied on all imports by the Budget 2006-2007. As no central sales tax or VAT is levied on imports, the levy of SAD is intended to create a level playing field for domestic goods vis-à-vis imports. However, this fairly innocuous-intentioned move has a number of anomalies and contradictions.
Calming Workers' Fears About Trade

Even though the global economy has been expanding, workers and the governments that represent them show increased anxiety about trade. Most changes in the workplace leading to job displacement can be attributed to advances in technology, but it is increasing imports that attract more blame. Protectionism is the wrong response. Better solutions have been proposed for governments to address workers' anxiety.
