Trade Remedy Investigations Against Exports from the Philippines

To take advantage of international market opening and globalization, the Philippines also promotes exports to other countries, however, the Philippines’ exports also face trade remedy investigations by other countries.

 

In total, the Philippines was the target of 19Anti-dumping investigations, 2 Anti-subsidy investigations and 392 Safeguard investigations in the period 1995-2022. The Philippines is a country that has been investigated and applied relatively few trade remedies in the world. Details of the number of initiations and impositions against Philippines can be found in the table below:

According to WTO statistics, base metals and articles from the Philippines is the group subject to the most trade remedy duties with a total of 59 investigations (of which 4 are subject to anti-dumping measures, 1 anti-subsidy measures and 54 safeguard measures). Other exported groups such as Products of the chemical and allied industries; textiles; processed foods… are also subject to frequent trade remedies measures (Details can be found in Table below).
