Foreign producers of pre-stressed concrete wire strand may have the chance to have duties on their US-bound exports reduced, Steel Business Briefing learns.
The US Department of Commerce (DOC) is giving interested parties the opportunity to request an administrative review of the antidumping (AD) duties on imports of PC Strand from Brazil, India, Mexico, and South Korea. The period to be investigated is the 2009 calendar year.
Duties on the books for these imports currently stand at 118.75% for Brazil, 83-102% for India, 63-77% for Mexico and 35-54% for Korea.
Interested parties may also be US producers, SBB notes, if they think these countries have been dumping PC strand in the US market at larger margins.
Parties have until the end of January to request the review.
The merchandise subject to the duties is steel strand produced from wire of nonstainless and nongalvanized steel, and includes both covered and uncovered strand and all types, grades, and diameters of PC strand.
SBB notes that PC strand imports from these four countries totaled less than 3,000 tonnes from January through October 2009.
