Taiwan continues to levy anti-dumping taxes on Chinese towels

Taiwan will continue to levy anti-dumping duties on imports of towels produced in China at a rate of up to 204.1 percent, the Ministry of Finance (MOF) said Monday.

According to the ministry, there are currently six major Chinese companies exporting towels to Taiwan, all of which have so far been abiding by their price undertakings and been refraining from dumping low-priced products, even though the period of the previous anti-dumping measures has expired.

However, MOF officials said that if any of them are found to be in violation of their pricing commitments in the future, they will be hit with anti-dumping duty at a rate in accordance with their dumping margins.

If deemed to have violated the anti-dumping regulations, Kunshan Sen Ming Textile will be levied at 88.5 percent, while Zhejiang Twin Lanterns Home Textile will be hit with 86.6 percent, it said.

The anti-dumping duty rate for all the others -- which include Jia You Textitle, Qian He International, Ka Lu Da Home Textile and Uchino International -- is 204.1 percent, the officials said.

The measure was due to take effect the following day and remains in place for five years.
