Pakistan: Anti-dumping duty on tinplate import from South Africa withdrawn

ISLAMABAD: National Tariff Commission (NTC) has withdrawn anti-dumping duty on the import of tinplate from South Africa.
Sources told Business Recorder here on Monday that the NTC had requested the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) in a written a letter for not collecting or charging the anti-dumping duty on the import of tinplate from South Africa.
According to the NTC, refer to the Commission’s letter dated July 12, 2008 along with a notice of conclusion of sunset review of anti-dumping duty imposed on dumped imports of tinplate (Pakistan Customs Tariff Heading 7210.1200) originating in and/ or exported from South Africa into Pakistan.
On expiry of five years period of imposition, the anti-dumping duty had been terminated on July 21, 2012, therefore, FBR was requested not to collect anti-dumping duty on tinplate imported from South Africa, NTC added. Therefore, the customs officials at ports would not collect this duty on the import of tinplate from South Africa.
