Australia is one of the top users of trade remedial measures. Products exported to Australia that are frequently subject to trade remedies to protect the domestic industry include base metals; paper, pulp; plastics, rubber; and chemicals... Countries/territories involved in alleged trade distortive practices in their exports to Australia include: China, Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia.
Australia initiated a total of 426 trade remedy investigations from January 1, 1995, to December 31, 2023, including 381 Anti-dumping investigations, 41 Anti-subsidy investigations and 4 Safeguard investigations. Of the initiated investigations initiated, Australia has officially imposed 177 Anti-dumping measures, 18 Anti-subsidy measures and has not imposed any Safeguard measures.
