EU to cancel Brazilian steel quotas for stainless steel & steel profile

It was reported that the European Union (EU) has canceled the Brazilian steel quotas for stainless steel and steel profile from its proposal for adjusting the current safeguard measures on steel imports. The European Commission (EC) submitted the latest plan to the World Trade Organization (WTO) last week, and it said that the adjustment was to make the measures to fully meet WTO rules.

The World Trade Organization (WTO) said on Aug. 18 that South Korea and Japan have been engaged in six WTO disputes and dispute settlement procedures are underway for half of them after Japan took legal proceedings. The WTO added that South Korea won the three finished cases.

Vietnam keeps goal of export value growth at 7.5 percent in 2019

The Ministry of Industry and Trade would not adjust its import and export goals despite current difficulties. Instead it would find the most effective solutions to achieve export growth of 7-7.5 percent as proposed, Industry and Trade Minister Tran Tuan Anh said in the meeting on August 7.
