Ukrainian Journal reported that the prolongation of the export duty for transactions with scrap nonferrous metal is not in line with some requirements of the World Trade Organization and could lead to counter measures that could be taken by WTO members.
According to a lawyer of Volkov and Partners law firm, Tetiana Kheruvimova “It's appropriate to say that countries, which interests were wounded by the said duty prolongation, could apply counter measures through suspension of concessions for certain types of goods imported from Ukraine.”
According to law, the export duties for scrap nonferrous is retained at 24% in 2011.
