Malaysia ends antidumping investigation on Hot Rolled Coils imports

KUALA LUMPUR (Scrap Monster): Malaysian International Trade and Industry Ministry stated that they’ve terminated the antidumping investigation on imports of hot rolled coil on this Monday.
At the same time, the notice of the preliminary determination has been published in the Government gazette.
The investigation on HRC imports under the Safeguards Act 2006 was started on May 1st, 2011 after the government received the petition from Megasteel, which claimed that the HRC imports has severely damaged the local industry.
According to the section 20 of the safeguards Act 2006, Malaysian government completed the investigation and found that the HRC imports increased by 35% during the period of injury determination.
However, it indicated that the increased HRC imports hadn’t cause any injury or threatened the local industry.
