ITC VOTES TO CONTINUE CASES ON 1-HYDROXYETHYLIDENE-1,1-DIPHOSPHONIC ACID (HEDP) FROM CHINA AND INDIA

May 02, 2008 (U.S. International Trade Commission Documents and Publications/ContentWorks via COMTEX) -- -- The United States International Trade Commission (ITC or Commission) today determined that there is a reasonable indication that a U.S. industry is materially injured by reason of imports of 1-hydroxyethylidene-1,1-diphosphonic acid (HEDP) from China and India that are allegedly sold in the United States at less than fair value.
All six Commissioners voted in the affirmative.
As a result of the Commission's affirmative determinations, the U.S. Department of Commerce will continue to conduct its antidumping investigations of imports of 1-hydroxyethylidene-1,1- diphosphonic acid (HEDP) from China and India, with its preliminary determinations due on or about August 26, 2008.

Product Description: HEDP includes all grades of aqueous, acidic (non-neutralized) concentrations of 1-hydroxyethylidene-1,1-diphosphonic acid, also referred to as hydroxethlylidenendiphosphonic acid, hydroxyethanediphosphonic acid, acetodiphosphonic acid, and etidronic acid. The CAS (Chemical Abstract Service) registry number for HEDP is 2809-21-4. The merchandise subject to this investigation is currently classified in the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS) at subheading 2931.00.9043. It may also enter under HTSUS subheading 2811.19.6090.
