SteelOrbis - India has decided to impose a definitive antidumping duty (AD) on cold rolled flat products of stainless steel originating in, or exported from China, South Korea, European Union, South Africa, Taiwan, Japan, Thailand and the US.

A notice issued on the website of India's Central Board of Excise and Customs said that the dumped goods in question exported from the subject countries to India cause domestic injury and so a definitive antidumping duty is necessary.

Accordingly, India has imposed AD duty of up to $2,254/mt on imports of the mentioned stainless steel products from the US, EU, China and other countries.

In April 2009, the Indian government had imposed a provisional antidumping duty on the subject merchandise. Finland-based Outokumpu, ArcelorMittal and South Korean steelmaker POSCO are the major exporters of steel products to India.

The subject merchandise falls under heading 7219 of the First Schedule to the Customs Tariff Act, 1975 (51 of 1975).
