HYDERABAD: Mr Anand Sharma, the Commerce and Industry Minister, has emphasised on the requirement to dismantle the current trade barriers for ensuring free flow of goods, services and manpower.

This is important mainly in the backdrop of strong international economic environment and surging inter-dependence on each other for goods and services.

While speaking at the 18th CII-Partnership Summit here, Mr Sharma has stated that with the Doha Round of talks not making headway, some introspection about the way to tackle flow of trade is the need of the hour.

In this global environment, there is need to share the technology, knowledge and knowhow which will be helpful in ensuring growth. And also there is need to link productivity to innovation.

The Government's new manufacturing policy is likely to transform the country. This initiative is of importance due to the international cross-currents leading to jobless growth. India is eyeing at surging the contribution of manufacturing sector from 16% of GDP to 26% in a decade and also possibly creating 100 million jobs.
The Andhra Pradesh Major Industries Minister, Ms J Geetha Reddy, has declared that the state has bagged 233 proposals worth Rs 5,00,057 crore, with employment potential of 4.7 lakh people during the Summit.
