New Delhi, Dec 27 (PTI) The government has imposed anti- dumping duty of up to Rs 209 per meter on imports of flax fabric, used in curtains, from China and Hong Kong to guard the domestic industry.
After concluding that imports of the fabric from China and Hong Kong are taking place at dumped prices and have caused material injury to the domestic industry, the designated authority - Directorate General of Anti- Dumping and Allied Duties- has recommended the duty.
The anti-dumping duty would be ranged between Rs 209.72 to Rs 206.24 per meter, a notification said. The duty would be levied for a period of five years.
China and Hong Kong were exporting flax fabric to India below their normal value, the notification said.
Anti-dumping measures are taken to ensure fair trade and to provide a level playing field to the domestic industry.
