Eurofer Files EU Anti-Dumping Complaint on China Steel Imports
28/11/2011 12:00
European steelmakers group Eurofer filed an anti-dumping complaint with the European Commission alleging that Chinese rivals are selling organic coated steel in Europe below cost.
European Union regulators can impose tariffs on foreign imports if they have evidence that a product is being sold below cost and is harming EU companies.
“Over the past four years, imports from China into the EU increased dramatically, despite the drop in EU consumption,” Eurofer said today in an e-mailed statement. “As a result of this, the EU industry lost sales and market share forcing it to cut back on production and to reduce capacity.”
Eurofer represents EU steelmakers including ArcelorMittal (MT) and ThyssenKrupp AG. (TKA).
