EuCIA Assess Composite Industry Implications of Anti-Dumping Investigation into Glass Fibre Fabrics

Further to the Official Journal of the European Union's published notice of initiation of anti-dumping proceedings concerning imports of certain woven and/or stitched glass fibre fabrics, originating in China (AD576), EuCIA is now assessing the potential implications of the investigation for the composites industry across Europe.

The complaint was lodged in June 2011 by the Glass Fibre Fabrics Defence Coalition (GFFDC).

According to EuCIA, previous anti-dumping investigations have shown that trade tariffs could lead to negative impacts on the sector, affecting business development and employment. Registered with the European Commission as interested party in the ongoing proceedings, EuCIA is currently assessing the potential implications of the investigation for the composites industry across Europe.

Volker Fritz, EuCIA President noted, “Following the official notification, EuCIA members are looking into understanding the case on glass fibre fabrics and identify potential threats for our industry. EuCIA's main objective is protection of members' interests. EuCIA is in favour of free trade in an open and global competitive market”.
