EU investigating claims of China dumping melamine
09/03/2010 12:00
The European Commission launched anti-dumping proceedings over raw melamine imports from China in the middle of February 2010. Three raw melamine manufacturers had filed an application to this effect on 4 January 2010. In an initial investigation into the arguments made by the petitioners, the European Commission concluded that there was enough evidence to launch proceedings. The new investigation should determine whether raw melamine imports originating in China are being dumped and whether this dumping has caused damage to raw melamine producers within the EU. If such damage is found to exist, the second phase will involve the instigation of anti-dumping measures.
