Will retain 216% antidumping duty rate
WASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of Commerce has agreed to rescind a new shipper review for Chinese wood bedroom producer Rise Furniture Co. Ltd.
As a result, Rise will retain its all-China duty rate of 216% for wood bedroom furniture shipments from Jan. 1 through July 30, 2009.
The new shipper review allows a company an opportunity to receive a more favorable antidumping duty rate on wood bedroom furniture shipments imported to the United States. To receive this review, a company must undergo an extensive analysis of its shipment activity for a given period.
Rise Furniture initially sought a new shipper review last July. However, by November it decided to terminate its request for a review.
The DOC normally requires a company withdraw its request within 60 days. But it extended the deadline in this case because it had not devoted significant resources to the actual review of Rise's bedroom shipments.
