BEIJING - China on Wednesday expressed satisfaction over a U.S. ruling against imposing punitive duties on Chinese wire decking imports, a rare move in bilateral trade ties that have been more about imposing penalties against each other's goods.

Last week, the U.S. International Trade Commission voted 3-2 against imposing duties on Chinese manufacturers of wire decking for receiving government subsidies and for selling their products, which are typically used for storage racks, at less than fair value in the U.S.

The result represents "complete victory," the Ministry of Commerce said in a statement on its website.

Chinese manufacturers of wire decking were able to protect their market share in the U.S. with the help of the Chinese government and Chinese enterprises in fighting the case, the ministry said.

The Chinese firms were facing antidumping duties of up to 143% and countervailing duties of up to 437%, after the U.S. Commerce Department in June announced its final decision to impose dual duties on Chinese-made wire decking.

The ITC said the imports aren't hurting U.S. manufacturers and its decision means no duty order will be issued on wire decking imports from China.
