China is facing this year's first anti-dumping and countervailing investigations from the United States after the International Trade Commission (ITC) voted 3:3 on February 19 to confirm the damage caused by the imports of oil well drill pipe from China to local producers.
United Steel Workers Union submitted a proposal on December 31, 2009 to the Department of Commerce (DOC), asking to impose anti-dumping and countervailing duties on Chinese imports of drill pipes worth up to $200 million.
The DOC is expected to make a preliminary ruling on the countervailing probe on March 26 this year and on the anti-dumping case on June 9, and is due to make a definitive decision in early December 2010.
