China local officials believe total tariffs on China-made solar products from the US government due to the anti-dumping and anti-subsidy investigation will not exceed 20%. If the tariff rate is over 20%, the local solar market in the US will be negatively affected as well.

The final verdict of the investigation is scheduled to be announced on May 17, 2012.

According to China's local officials, increasing tariff rates on China-made solar products over 20% will hurt the US market, as installation costs are likely to rise and subdue market development.

China's solar industry has been affected by the investigation and incentive cuts in Europe. Government officials noted that the government has been identifying potential problems that are likely to arise from the industry's high-dependency on international markets and material imports. The China government has been providing mechanisms to develop domestic demand to help the industry.
