Canadian International Trade Tribunal Initiates Expiry Review Copper Pipe Fittings
08/06/2011 12:00
The Canadian International Trade Tribunal today initiated an expiry review of its findings made on February 19, 2007, in Inquiry No. NQ-2006-002, concerning the dumping of copper pipe fittings from the United States, Korea and China and the subsidizing of copper pipe fittings from China.
On September 29, 2011, the Canada Border Services Agency will determine if there is a likelihood of resumed or continued dumping and/or subsidizing. In the event of a positive determination, the Tribunal will determine, on February 17, 2012, whether the continued or resumed dumping and/or subsidizing are likely to result in injury or retardation.
The Tribunal is an independent quasi-judicial body that reports to Parliament through the Minister of Finance. It hears cases on dumped and subsidized imports, complaints about federal government procurement, appeals of customs and excise tax rulings and safeguard complaints. When requested by the federal government, the Tribunal also provides advice on other economic, trade and tariff matters.
Any interested person, association or government that wishes to participate in the Tribunal’s expiry review may do so by filing a Notice of Participation.
