TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: Brazil has accused Indonesia of dumping cheap shoes from China onto its market.
The Brazilian trade authority has been investigating Indonesia’s antidumping circumvention since July. Besides Indonesia, the country has also accused Vietnam and Malaysia of the same allegations. Indonesian footwear could be imposed with an anti-dumping tax of US$13.85 per pair if the allegations are proven.
The Trade Ministry’s trade security director, Ernawati, said that her office had drafted an objection to the allegation as the antidumping circumvention regulation in Brazil only came into effect in August, while the allegation was filed in October.
