Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Australia has stopped imposing anti-dumping duties on Indonesia`s linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE), a minister said.
"This is good news for Indonesian LLDPE producers and exporters to expand their export market in Australia," Trade Minister Mari Elka Pangestu said here on Wednesday.
The Australian government decided to stop imposing anti-dumping duties on Indonesian polyethylene under Australian Customs Dumping Notice dated April 1, 2010.
The Australian government for the first time accused two Indonesian polyethylene makers of dumping practices on February 19, 1999. The two Indonesian companies are PT. Petrokimia Nusantara Interindo and PT Chandra Asri whose LLDPE exports to Australia will be exempted from anti-dumping duties as from July 19, 2010 and July 27, 2010, respectively.
In July 2000 the Australian government decided to charge 69 percent and 61 percent anti-dumping duties on PT Chandra Asri and PT. Petrokimia Nusantara Interindo for the next five years.
The anti-dumping duties were extended for another five years with anti-dumping duties on Petrokimia Nusantara Interindo`s LLDPE reduced to 5 percent. The anti-dumping duties on PT Chandra Asri`s LLDPE remain at 69 percent.
On March 25, 2008, the Australian government reviewed the imposition of anti-dumping duties on the two companies` LLDPE, accusing them of being uncooperative.
Pangestu said the trade ministry lodged complaints about the accusation leveled to the two companies and the Australian government eventually revoked anti-dumping duties on their LLDPE. (*)
