Pakistan: NTC initiates AD probe into tinplate imports from China, EU, South Africa and USA

The National Tariff Commission (NTC) has launched an anti-dumping investigation against tinplate imports from China, EU, South Africa and USA.
According to the public notice issued by NTC, Karachi-based steel manufacturer, Siddiqsons Tinplate Limited, had filed the antidumping petition on June 28, 2018 against the imports of Chinese, EU, South African and USA origin tinplate. The applicants alleged that tinplate is being exported to Pakistan at dumped price and causing material injury to Pakistan's domestic steel industry.
The product allegedly being dumped into Pakistan is classified under Pakistan Customs Tariff classification numbers, 7210.1210 and 7210.1290. The product scope is tinplate of a width of 600 mm and more and thickness of less than 0.5 mm. Investigated product is used for packaging of food and other items, statement added.
Period of Investigation:
For determination of dumping: From July 01, 2017 to June 30, 2018
For determination of material injury: From July 01, 2015 to June 30, 2018
Notice further stated that Commission will now investigate the matter and determine the preliminary margins not earlier than 60 days and not later than 180 days from the date of initiation of investigation.
