Practices of Safeguard investigation by the EU

During the period 1995-2021, the EU initiated a total of 6 safeguard investigations and imposed duties on 4 cases. Unlike anti-dumping and anti-subsidy measures, the EU's safeguard measures are relatively few in trade remedies.
Product groups subject to the most safeguard measures by the EU
Products subject to EU’s safeguard measures include: base metals and articles (2 cases); live animals and products (1 case); processed foods, beverages, spirits and vinegars, tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (1 case).
