The leader stated Việt Nam hopes to step up and expand joint work with each ASEAN member country within the framework of bilateral cooperation, especially in potential areas to meet development needs and for mutual benefits and prosperity of the sides involved.

In a key shift in global trade dynamics, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) saw its exports to the United States surpass those to China for the first time in six quarters. 

Vietnam was the fastest-growing digital economy in ASEAN in 2023, and with its potential it is on the road to becoming the second-largest by 2030, said the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) in its recent report “Vietnam at a glance.”

The US market has over 330 million people with large consumption power, and is a key market for agricultural products and food, including seasonal fruits. However, compared to countries exporting to the United States, especially countries in the Americas, Vietnam's export products still face many challenges.

Logistics services are an indispensable link in e-commerce transactions, especially cross-border transactions. Therefore, with the strong growth of the e-commerce market from 20 - 25%/year, the logistics industry is forecast to have strong development momentum

Many important export agricultural product groups of Vietnam will encounter certain obstacles in the consumer market when the massive harvest begins. The problem is that priority needs to be given to avoid the situation of "good harvest and loss of value" for seasonal agricultural products.

Vietnam's exports to key markets in the first five months of 2024 increased by 15% over the same period last year, in which fashion, furniture and household appliances led the recovery.

Cambodia exported 667,000 tonnes of raw cashew nuts to Việt Nam in the first five months of this year, an increase of 37 per cent over the same period last year.
