The US$3.5 billion mega-port of Chancay in Peru, set to be completed this year and expected to become a key logistics hub in Latin America, will open new opportunities for Việt Nam's logistics industry by enhancing maritime transport connections and facilitating trade between the two regions.

The West African country has the most stable politics in the region, and an open economy. It is home to the headquarters of the Central Bank of West African States, the Dakar international seaport and a railway system, which is transit point for goods in the sub-region.

According to a report by Việt Nam News, starting from Jan. 1, 2029, Vietnamese residents participating in cross-border trade — whether buying, selling or exchanging goods — will be required to perform the import and export procedures in person. Furthermore, from Jan. 1, 2030, goods will only be processed for import and export at specific locations, including China–Vietnam border ports at various administrative levels, and via designated transportation routes.
