Price dumping poses key challenge to Lebanese advertising industry

BEIRUT: Dumping is one of the main challenges that the Lebanese advertising industry is facing, said president of the World Federation of Advertisers (WFA) in Lebanon Atef Idriss. "The government should prevent imports that lead to dumping because this is disrupting our economy. Moreover, the government is not doing its part of the work and is avoiding implementing the anti-dumping law, which is affecting the local spending in the advertising sector in Lebanon," Idriss told The Daily Star.

SUMMARY: On May 22, 2009, the United States Court of International Trade (CIT) sustained the Department of Commerce's (the Department's) results of redetermination pursuant to the CIT's remand in Nucor Corporation, Gerdau Ameristeel Corporation, and Commercial Metals Company v. United States, Court No. 07-00457 (Apr. 14, 2009) (Nucor I). See Results of Redetermination Pursuant to Remand, dated January 31, 2009 (found at http://ia.ita.doc.gov/remands); and Nucor Corporation, Gerdau Ameristeel, Inc., and Commercial Metals Company v. United States, Slip Op. 09-50 (May 22, 2009) (Nucor II). Consistent with the decision of the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit (CAFC) in Timken Co. v. United States, 893 F.2d 337 (Fed. Cir. 1990) (Timken), the Department is notifying the public that the final judgment in this case is not in harmony with the Department's final results of the administrative review of the antidumping duty order on certain steel concrete reinforcing bars (rebar) from Turkey covering the period of review (POR) of April 1, 2005, through March 31, 2006. We preliminarily find that ArcelorMittal Stainless Belgium N.V. ("AMS Belgium") did not receive any countervailable subsidies in this review and its rate is, consequently, zero. Interested parties are invited to comment on these preliminary results.

See Initiation of Antidumping and Countervailing Duty Administrative Reviews and Requests for Revocation in Part, 74 FR 5821 (February 2, 2009) (Initiation). As a result of withdrawals of request for review, we are rescinding this review, in part, with respect to Essar Steel Limited (Essar), Ispat Industries Limited (Ispat), and JSW Steel Limited (JSW).

According to Mr Luo Bingsheng executive vice president of CISA, in order to stabilize China’s international export markets share, relative department should improve steel export environment bring out moderate flexible steel export tax policy, adjust export rebate in one step, further realize fair tax, regulate import and export trade order and strengthen the control of import and antidumping so as to sustain the domestic market.
