ZTE, Huawei, Alcatel-Lucent Face India Tariffs

India's Ministry of Commerce said December 8 that it plans to begin imposing anti-dumping tariffs of up to 236% on imports of synchronous digital hierarchy transmission equipment from China, China Business News reported citing an announcement from the Ministry of Commerce.
Alcatel-Lucent's (EPA, NYSE:ALU) China company Alcatel-Lucent Shanghai Bell and Huawei Technology will face tariffs of 29% and 50%, respectively, while other Chinese telecom equipment manufacturers, including ZTE Corporation (0763.HK, 000063.SZ), will face the maximum tariff of 236%, the report said.
ZTE takes in revenue of around $800 million to $1 billion annually from the Indian market, the report said. Huawei has 4,000 employees in India and plans to recruit 2,000 new personnel in the next 18 months, while ZTE has more than 1,000 employees in India.
