Viet Nam's exports started the new year impressively, with a strong increase in value. The US continues to be the largest market, driving acceleration in the processing and manufacturing industries.

Viet Nam's goods export activities have started strongly, clearly demonstrating momentum right from the first month of the new year. Preliminary statistics from the Customs Department show that total import and export turnover reached over 88 billion USD, an increase of nearly 39% compared to the same period last year.

A key highlight is that the US market continues to hold its position as Viet Nam's largest export partner. Export turnover to the US in the first month of the year reached approximately $13.9 billion, confirming the strong demand of this market for Vietnamese goods, despite the continued existence of tariff barriers and unpredictable trade policies.

By 2025, the US had surpassed all other partners to become Viet Nam's largest export market, with trade turnover exceeding $153 billion.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade , the structure of export goods has shifted positively towards increasing the proportion of high value-added items, especially in the processing and manufacturing industries. Industries such as electronics, textiles, footwear, and wood products continue to affirm their position as pillars in export growth.

In 2026, Viet Nam aims for export turnover to reach 546-550 billion USD, an increase of 15-16% compared to 2025. To achieve this goal, Viet Nam needs to export an average of approximately 45-46 billion USD worth of goods each month.

In the coming period, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will continue to coordinate with relevant ministries and agencies to negotiate and implement new agreements, while supporting businesses to better utilize the benefits from FTAs.
