By the end of this year, the Ministry of Industry and Trade had initiated a total of 61 trade defense investigations against foreign goods imported into Viet Nam. This resulted in an increase of 1,600 billion VND in state revenue annually. The goods subject to investigation were relatively diverse, including basic metals, chemicals and plastics, construction materials, and basic consumer goods.

Statistics show that the trade defense measures applied have also contributed to increasing revenue for the state budget (tax revenue collected into the state budget; the amount of anti-dumping duties, anti-subsidy duties, and safeguard duties collected annually is very large, exceeding 1,600 billion VND).

More importantly, domestic industries are protected from unfair competition from imported goods, creating favorable conditions for domestic businesses to develop, generate more jobs, and add value to the economy.

For example, in 2025 alone, the Ministry of Industry and Trade initiated a series of cases related to imported steel, "stifling" the domestic manufacturing industry.

A typical example is the initiation of an anti-dumping investigation against certain hot-rolled steel products originating from India and China in July 2025.

The decision to investigate was based on a request filed by domestic manufacturing companies under the Law on Foreign Trade Management, alleging that hot-rolled steel manufacturers from India and China were dumping this product into Viet Nam, causing damage to the domestic industry.

In July 2025, the Ministry of Industry and Trade officially launched an anti-dumping investigation into certain colorless float glass products originating from Indonesia and Malaysia, classified under HS codes 7005.29.20 and 7005.29.90 (case code: AD22).

In October 2025, the Ministry of Industry and Trade continued to initiate an investigation into circumvention of trade safeguard measures against hot-rolled steel imported from China.
