According to the Viet Nam News Agency correspondent in China, agricultural trade between Viet Nam and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (China) continues to grow strongly, with a turnover of 18.23 billion Yuan (approximately 2.6 billion USD) in 2025.
According to data from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, agricultural imports from Viet Nam reached 12.09 billion RMB, a 10.8% increase year-on-year, reflecting Viet Nam's increasingly important role in the regional agricultural supply chain. Between 2022 and 2025, bilateral agricultural trade is projected to maintain an average annual growth rate of 15.2%, with fruit continuing to be a key area of cooperation.
Thanks to its geographical advantages and logistics infrastructure, Guangxi is emerging as an important transit and collection center, bringing Vietnamese fruits into the Chinese market and connecting Chinese agricultural products with countries in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Guangxi's main exports to Viet Nam include garlic, onions, hybrid citrus fruits, melons, potatoes, and seafood; while Viet Nam exports many high-value products to Guangxi such as fresh durian, lobster, cassava starch, and fishmeal for animal feed.
Agricultural sector cooperation between the two sides is becoming increasingly sustainable through the establishment of the Viet Nam-China (Guangxi) Agricultural Cooperation Model Zone in Bac Giang province, along with pilot zones for agricultural cooperation and opening up to foreign trade in Pingxiang, Dongxing, and Baise (Guangxi).
Smart agriculture is becoming a new highlight in bilateral cooperation. Guangxi Yangxiang Group has launched the first fully digitized pig farming project in Viet Nam. Meanwhile, the technological solutions of Jiejia Run Group are being applied in many fruit-growing regions, helping to increase the proportion of high-quality fruit to approximately 30%. In addition, the China (Guangxi) - Viet Nam Smart Fisheries Cooperation Zone project in Quang Ninh province has supported the operation of the first smart deep-sea cage farming system in Ha Long Bay.
Entering 2026, Guangxi plans to strengthen the training of high-quality stakeholders in international agricultural trade, support enterprises in building bonded warehouses for agricultural products overseas, expand cooperation channels with Viet Nam and ASEAN, and promote the joint conference mechanism between leaders of the agricultural sector of Guangxi and the four border provinces of Viet Nam. These efforts aim to develop Guangxi-Viet Nam agricultural cooperation towards high quality, sustainability, and technological innovation.
