Oct. 9 MetalBiz--US Department of Commerce announced on October 7 that it started the anti-dumping and countervailing duty on seamless pipes imported from China. This move may make America set a new duty on this kind of product.
US Department of Commerce stated that this investigation is carried out at the request of U.S. Steel Corp., V&MStar, TMKIPSCO and United Steel Worker of America. The America companies demand that they will impose 98.37% of anti-dumping duty on the seamless steel tubes imported from China and levy the extra countervailing duty on China government's subsidy.
US International Trade Commission will make the preliminary ruling on before or after November 2nd, 2009. The commission made the adjudication that US Department of Commerce will make the preliminary ruling on countervailing duty and anti-dumping duty in December, 2009 and February, 2010, respectively.
Many economists believed that recently America's trade protectionism activities are increasing. At the weak and reviving stage of global economy, this is bound to affect on the global economy's recovering process and is unfavorable to the sound development of Sino-US economic and trade relations. In September, Barack Obama, president of United States of America announced to levy the penalty duty on tyres imported from China.
