US reduces import duties on Vietnamese tra and basa fish

The US Department of Commerce (DOC) has announced the official results of the 15th period of anti-dumping duty review (POR15) for the period from August 1, 2017, to July 31, 2018, regarding Vietnamese tra and basa products exported to the US.
Accordingly, the final tax rate for several businesses that have participated in answering the questionnaire and cooperating with the DOC is US$0.15 per kg (equivalent to about 3.8% of the export price) which is much lower than the rate of US$1.37 per kg in the POR14.
Enterprises who did not respond to the questionnaire will receive a tax rate of US$2.39 per kg, equivalent to the POR14.
This is positive news for Vietnamese fish exporters, especially in the context that the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting the domestic fish industry.
In addition, most of Vietnam's major tra exporters such as Vinh Hoan Joint Stock Company, Bien Dong Fisheries Co., Ltd. and others continue to enjoy a 0% tax rate.
