UAE escapes safeguard duties on aluminum ingots

ABU DHABI (Scrap Monster): The assistant Undersecretary for Industry, in the Ministry of Economy, His Execellency Abdullah Sultan Al Shamsi, stated in a report that, the government of India, started the investigation regarding the import of aluminum ingots from UAE on the 7th of April 2014 on the category of ‘not alloyed ingots of unwrought aluminum’.

The investigation was initiated due to the complaints raised by the domestic aluminum producers, due to the import of cheap aluminum ingots, destroying their chances in the Indian market.

The anti-dumping Ministry of UAE, submitted the government o9f India, with several documents and evidence to prove that, the claims raised in the country, doesn’t meet the legal requirements marked in the, World Trade Organization Agreement on Safeguards. According to the agreement the domestic Indian traders do not have the claims to impose safeguard duty on the imports from UAE.

The apt control of the UAE government, on the situation, released them from the safeguard duties which was to be imposed by the Indian government.
