Turkey regains Malaysian wire rod market

Mr Namik Ekinci chairman of the Turkish Steel Exporters Association said on Malaysia's decision to terminate the antidumping duty investigation on steel wire rod imports from Turkey and said that Turkey has regained the Malaysian wire rod market that was lost for a short while due to the duty investigation.
 
Mr Ekinci said that the achievement related to the duty investigation launched by Malaysia will be a source of motivation for Turkey regarding other trade cases by several countries, underscoring that in the last 2 years, 12 countries resorted to safeguard measures regarding steel products imported from Turkey.
 
As previously reported, Malaysia terminated the AD duty investigation in favor of Turkey while it decided to impose an AD duty ranging between 3.03% and 25.2% for wire rod imports from China, Taiwan, Indonesia and South Korea for the 5 years starting from February 20.
 
The goods subject to investigation are currently classified under Harmonized System Code Numbers 7213.10.000, 7213.20.000,7213.91.000 and 7213.99.000. In 2012, Turkey exported 3,532 mt of wire rod to Malaysia while in 2011, Turkish wire rod exports to Malaysia stood at 23,133 tonnes.
