Viet Nam's tuna exports are showing signs of recovery, especially in the EU. Demand for convenient products, such as frozen steamed tuna for processing, is forecast to increase again.

In 2025, among the key seafood product groups, tuna exports are projected to decrease by 6.5%. This is due to businesses facing difficulties in raw material sourcing and compliance requirements for harvested products. However, according to the Viet Nam Association of Seafood Processing and Export, market signals are showing signs of recovery.

Similar to the European market, the outlook for Vietnamese tuna exports to Spain in 2026 is expected to see a slight increase in the early months of the year. The frozen steamed tuna product group is expected to grow, as it aligns with Spain's role as a processing hub and the EU consumer trend favoring convenient products.

Furthermore, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture 's report on seafood consumption, one-third of Spanish households reduced their consumption of fish and meat to cope with inflation; consumers sought cheaper protein and prioritized canned, frozen, and convenient options with smaller portions. In this context, tuna products for processing are expected to continue to be a bright spot.

According to Viet Nam Customs, Viet Nam's seafood exports in 2025 are projected to reach over $11.34 billion, a 13% increase compared to 2024. Tuna exports alone are expected to reach $913 million.
