Taiwan government to support PV companies in US anti-dumping case

The Taiwanese government has raised fears that the latest the anti-dumping investigation by the U.S. Department of Commerce that has expanded its reach to include Taiwanese PV products could “seriously damage the interests of manufacturers and suppliers”.
Taiwan's Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT) said in a statement issued Friday (February 7) that it would do the utmost to defend Taiwanese companies in the case and had instigated lawyers in the US to work on their behalf as well as Foreign Affairs offices.
Apparently, Yingli Green and Hanwha SolarOne had offered to represent the Taiwanese firms involved in the case due to both companies using Taiwanese solar cells in products shipped to the US after the initial ITC case led to heavy import duties for Chinese modules that used Chinese made solar cells.
BOFT noted that on legal grounds, both Yingli Green and Hanwha SolarOne were not able to represent Taiwanese firms in the case.
A preliminary decision on anti-dumping could be issued on February 14.
