Spain controls the importing of tuna and gadoid tightly

Spainish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA - Ministerio de Agricultura, Pesca y Alimentación) has recently committed to strengthen its control over importing tuna, kasuwonus pelamis and gadoid. In association with Ministry of Maritime, and in cooperation with General Department of Customs and Tariffs, General Department of Public Health, MAPA will be resolute in controlling and inspecting imported aquatic products as well as supervising the observation of regulations on labeling under the law. Ministry of Maritime and Galicia authorities also strengthen inspection of labeling activities of many difference stages in the whole distribution system from consumption market to ultimate customers.
MAPA will cooperate with Ministry of Health and Consumers, Ministry of Economy and Finance to maintain controlling and inspecting tuna.
Simultaneously, Ministry of Maritime will impose tougher controlling measures against fish fleets which catch kasuwonus pelamis to supply factories specialized in processing canned fish. As a result, the legal supply sources for fishery industry will be the responsible catching methods.
MAPA will cooperate with Ministry of Health and Consumers, Ministry of Economy and Finance to maintain controlling and inspecting tuna.
