Russia launches WTO dispute over Ukraine ammonium nitrate tariff

GENEVA, May 8 (Reuters) - Russia has launched a trade dispute to challenge punitive tariffs imposed by Ukraine on Russian shipments of ammonium nitrate, a fertiliser ingredient, the World Trade Organization said in a statement on Friday.
Ukraine imposed the "anti-dumping" tariff in 2008 and extended it in July last because it said the Russian product was being sold at an unfairly cheap price on the Ukrainian market.
Under WTO rules, Ukraine has 60 days to try to address Russia's concerns through bilateral talks. If that fails to resolve the dispute, Russia could ask the WTO to adjudicate. (Reporting by Tom Miles; editing by John Stonestreet)
