Rice price of Asia decreases while Vietnamese one continues increasing

Information Center of Agriculture and Rural Development informed that the rice price of Vietnam keeps rising despite the decrease, which follow the trend of Thai rice price after a stable big increase for continuous weeks, in Asia market.
 
Vietnamese 15% broken rice is quoted at 298.6 US Dollars per ton, increasing 2.6 USD in comparison with last week’s. The price per ton is 307.6 US Dollars for 5% broken rice and 302.6 US Dollars for 10% broken rice, which both increase 2.2 US Dollars per ton.

The price is forecasted to keep rising because of the decrease in supply. Estimated that Vietnam will reach the target of 36 million tons of rice in 2007 but the quantity of commercial food achieves only 8.7 million tons.

According to this tendency, the Vietnamese rice price will be boosted as high as that of Thailand.

5% broken rice of Thailand is currently quoted at 323 US Dollars per ton for, a decrease of 1 US Dollar in comparison with last week’s. 15% broken rice price also decreases 2.4 US Dollars per ton, only 299 US Dollars/ton.
