Mexico has concluded a preliminary anti-dumping investigation into imports of flat-coated steel from China and Taiwan.
The investigation was launched in December 2015, following a request by Ternium México and Tenigal. These companies alleged that flat-coated steel from Chinese and Taiwanese companies has been entering Mexico at unfair prices, below prices in their domestic markets – a practice known as "dumping." The investigation covered the period between May 1, 2012, and April 30, 2015.
According to the preliminary findings of the investigation, imports of the product in question from China and Taiwan increased their share in total imports from nine percent to 14 percent.
Mexico's Ministry of Economy said that provisional anti-dumping duties will be imposed with rates of USD0.56 for Taiwanese companies, and between USD0.19 and USD0.44 for Chinese companies.
