Indonesia Imposes Protective Tariff on Chinese Woven Cotton Cloth

Recently, Indonesia's Ministry of Finance issued a ministerial order, deciding to impose tariffs on imported Chinese woven cotton cloth (including the unbleached and bleached) for a period of 3 years from March 23, 2011, the rate to be decreased year-by-year from IDR 116,800 (about USD 15) per kg in the first year to IDR 102,200 per kg in the third year.
According to the ministerial order, there are 11 HS codes involved: 520811, 520812, 520813, 520819, 520823, 520829, 520929, 521011, 521111, 521112, and 521211.
The tariff is levied for a period of three years from the date of announcement, and the tariff rates are respectively IDR 116,800 per kg for the first year, IDR 109,500 per kg for the second year, and IDR 102,200 per kg for the third year.
