Indonesia Expands Seafood Exports to Vietnam with 35 New Processing Units

Indonesia on Friday, November 7, 2025, approved 35 additional fish processing units to export seafood to Vietnam, using a bilateral quality agreement and end-to-end quality assurance to meet international standards.
Ishartini, Head of Maritime and Fisheries Affairs (KKP) Ministry Quality Agency, said the addition reflects the success of Indonesia’s end-to-end quality assurance program, which adheres to international standards.
"We implement quality assurance activities based on international rules from upstream to downstream, and maintain bilateral cooperation agreements as part of KKP’s fisheries diplomacy," Ishartini said in a statement, on Friday, November 7, 2025, as quoted by antaranews.com.
Vietnamese authorities have approved the 35 additional processing units proposed by KKP Ministry, allowing them to export seafood products to Vietnam. With this update, the total number of Indonesian Fish Processing Unit (UPIs) registered for export to Vietnam reaches 646 units.
Currently, Indonesian seafood exports to Vietnam include 672 product types, with the top 10 commodities by export volume including frozen squid, frozen yellowfin tuna, frozen cuttlefish, and dried gracilaria seaweed.
According to KKP data, in 2024, Indonesia exported over 100,000 tons of seafood products to Vietnam, while Vietnam exported around 6,934 tons of seafood products to Indonesia.
Earlier, KKP Minister Sakti Wahyu Trenggono emphasized that KKP is the competent authority responsible for official oversight across the entire fisheries production chain, issuing the Certificate of Quality and Safety of Fishery Products (SMKHP) to meet export requirements.
