India to impose anti-dumping taxes on Vietnam’s CD-Rs

The Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry has accused Vietnam of dumping recordable compact discs (CD-R) in India and the agency will subsequently impose a tax rate of US$46.94 per 1000 discs over the next three months.

Other countries to be affected by India’s anti-dumping measures are Iran, Malaysia, the Republic of Korea, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry said that manufacturers in these countries sell their CD-Rs in India at prices lower than their domestic normal value, with dumping margins of 54.65 percent for Vietnam, 75.63 percent for the RoK, 93.73 percent for UAE and 22.76 percent for Thailand.

India’s investigations into these cases were based on a lawsuit filed by the India Optical Disc Manufacturers Welfare Association (ODMWA).
