The Incheon Port Authority (IPA) has announced a significant milestone in its export activities, with 8 TEUs of domestically produced office furniture being exported to Vietnam through Incheon Port from April to Sept. This shipment, made on Sept. 26, marks the fifth export, reflecting the growing demand for premium office furniture in the Vietnamese market.

The export success is attributed to the port sales initiative led by the IPA Ho Chi Minh Office in southern Vietnam last March. The IPA Ho Chi Minh Office has been instrumental in supporting the entry of about 15 small and medium-sized export companies into Vietnamese e-commerce platforms such as Shopee and Lazada. Last year, these efforts generated a cargo volume of 30 TEUs.

Kim Sang-ki, Vice President of Operations at IPA, emphasized the significance of this development, stating, "This export of domestic office furniture will serve as a significant opportunity for Incheon Port to become a gateway for the increasing export of K-office furniture to the Vietnamese market." He further added, "IPA will do its utmost to support domestic logistics and export-import companies operating in Vietnam by reducing logistics costs and addressing any difficulties."

The premium office furniture market in Vietnam is expanding, driven by the country's rapid economic growth and increasing demand from its burgeoning middle class and business sector. CENOPLAN VIETNAM, a key player in this market, chose Incheon Port as the optimal export route among domestic ports and airports, underscoring the port's strategic importance and efficiency.

In addition to the office furniture exports, the container cargo volume at Incheon Port in August reached a record high of 301,013 TEUs, the highest ever for August. This figure represents a 5.7% increase from the previous record of 284,667 TEUs in August last year, highlighting the port's capacity to handle large volumes of goods and its role in supporting South Korea's export economy.
