This was an anti-subsidy investigation initiated by The United State on January 18th, 2013.
Final decision of DOC
The U.S. Commerce Department on August 13th, 2013 set final countervailing duties on frozen warmwater shrimp imported from such countries. Vietnam had received countervailing subsidies ranging from 1.15 to 7.88 percent.
Punitive duties would be imposed after both the Commerce Department and the U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC) make affirmative final rulings. USITC is scheduled to make its final determinations on or before Sept. 19, 2013.
Final decision of ITC
Frozen warmwater shrimps from China, Ecuador, India, Malaysia and Vietnam does not hurt or threaten the U.S. industry, said the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) in a final ruling on 20 September, 2013. ITC therefore determined to deny a ruling by the Commerce Department on final countervailing duties on shrimp imports worth of some 1.9 billion dollar from the five countries. As a result, no countervailing duty order will be issued on imports of this product.
