The European Union has issued new regulatory regulations regarding the recognition of certification bodies and the issuance of organic certificates for imports into the EU.
On November 7, the Vietnam Trade Office in Belgium and the EU said that the European Union (EU) issued new regulations related to the recognition of certification units and the granting of organic certificates for imports into the EU.
Specifically, on November 4, 11, the European Commission issued Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/2024 amending Implementing Regulation (EU) 2794/2021 regarding the recognition of certain organizations/entities performing organic control and certification in third countries for organic products imported into the EU according to Article 1378 of Regulation (EU) 46/2018 of the European Parliament and of the Council.
This Regulation amends Annex II of the Implementing Regulation (EU) 2021/1378, which lists a number of organisations/entities recognised by the EU to carry out organic control and certification services for groups of products imported into the EU. According to this Regulation, the following organisations/entities are recognised to carry out organic control and certification for products from Vietnam:
1/ DQS POLSKA SPÓŁKA Z OGRANICZONĄ ODPOWIEDZIALNOŚCIĄ: Code VN-BIO-181; Product Groups: A, D, G
2/ ONECERT INTERNATIONAL PRIVATE LIMITED; Code VN-BIO-152; Product Groups: A, D, G
3/ SRS Certification GmbH: Code VN-BIO-195 Product Groups: A, D, E, G.
In which:
Group A products: include unprocessed plants and plant products, including seeds and other breeding materials;
Group D products: include products Agriculture processing, including aquaculture products, for use as food;
Group E products: Animal feed;
Group G products: include other products listed in Annex I of Regulation (EU) 2018/848 or not included in the above categories)
This regulation applies after 3 days of announcement (from November 7, 11).
This is one of the activities in the strategy that the EU believes will tightly manage the actual situation of organic products. Previously, the EU believed that there were too many organizations that could issue bio, ecological, organic labels... without fully reflecting the relevant production situation according to EU requirements.
The EU is Vietnam's leading partner in the fields of trade and investment, actively contributing to the process of socio-economic development, integration and energy transition in Vietnam. With strong leverage from the EVFTA and the upcoming EVIPA, Vietnam has many favorable conditions to promote trade cooperation, attract investment, technology transfer, and support projects from EU partners to promote economic restructuring towards green and digital, including the use of clean energy, renewable energy, high-tech transformation in production, helping Vietnamese goods meet EU standards, deeply and sustainably participate in the value chain.
