EU plans to re-impose anti dumping duties on Chinese wire rod

European Union planed to re-impose anti-dumping duties on Chinese wire rod for another five years to continue to protect the domestic market for the wire rod mills in Europe.
The tariff was initiate in 2009 by EU in light of the petition by the wire rod mills in EU such as Feralpi Siderurgica SpA, ArcelorMittal (MT), Corus Group Ltd. and etc. when EU importers have greatly imported Chinese wire rod from 0.3% in 2004 to 5% till March 2008.
The EU started a study to exam whether to re-impose the duties as high as 24% on Chinese wire rod to be used the construction sector. It is said that the anti-dumping duties could last as long as 15 months.
